Even though there a millions of blogs online there are still people who do not know what blogs are. If you spend a lot of time online it is hard to believe that only 25% of the world’s population use the internet. So, if you have heard the word blogging and are new online you might be wondering what exactly is the meaning of blogging.

Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. That’s all! Most blogs are text, but there are also photo blogs and video blogs. The first blogs were a sort of diary where people recorded their thoughts or gave regular  information about a certain topic.

According to Wikepedia the term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, “blog,” was coined by Peter Merholz in 1999. The word is now used as a verb “to blog” as well as a noun. Blogging is the word used to describe posting content on your blog.

I went to an very interesting and full of fun Internet Marketing workshop run by very successful entrepreneur Nick James on Saturday. Nick had been challenged to launch a product live at the event to see if it was possible to makes sales while we watched.

Nick first showed how to get a licensed product and make it your own by changing the graphics and rewriting the Sales Page. His product The 24 Hour Product Formula looked totally different from the original. It’s very important to make it your own and have a totally different sales page.

He uploaded the sales page after a few technical hitches ( good to see that the experts can get problems too when they are least wanted) and sent an email message out at 11am to his large subscriber list.

When I first started online I found the idea of setting up a WordPress blog very intimidating. Everyone was saying that if you were going to have any sucess blogging then you had to have a WordPress blog. But from what I had heard it was much more complex than setting up a free blog at eBlogger and when I first began I found that difficult.

It took me many months of searching for some good blog setup tutorials before I took the plunge. Most of the eBooks I found were difficult to follow and the video courses were very expensive but finally I found a short set of videos that were being offered at a discount and set up my blog.

The videos were very basic and did not tell me about plugins, driving traffic and monetizing. In fact now I look back they were very lacking in information although without them I don’t know what I would have done because they were the first clear step-by-step videos I had found.

Since then WordPress has become easier and easier although it can still be a mystery for newbies. With all the the different themes, numerous plugins and the technical jargon it can leave you completely confused.

But I have just come across Tommy McLaughlin’s FREE Blog Setup Tutorials report that claims to help you get your WordPress blog online in a couple of hours. Wow, I really wish this had been around when I was setting up my first blog.

I have just read through it and I am surprised by the level of detail provided. I would think even if you had never heard of WordPress before, you would be confident that by end of the 90 pages you would have your WordPress Blog fully installed and personalized.

But before you are put off by the thought of ploughing through 90 pages- and he calls it a report-  let me tell you that as well as clear concise text it contains a lot of excellent step by step screen shots that make it really easy to follow.  It even contains some golden nuggets that I will start to use.

WordPress Blog Setup Tutorials will show you how to:

  • Research and find your Niche
  • Effective Keyword Research
  • Find the best WordPress Themes for FREE
  • Which WordPress Plugins to install
  • Adding Video & Pictures to your WordPress Blog
  • Put an opt-in box on your blog to build your list
  • Drive Traffic to your WordPress Blog for FREE!

And much much more…

Now there are NO excuses for not getting your own WordPress Blog online and start to earn some money from it. Even if you already have a blog I am sure you could pick up a few tips from the report. Well, it’s free so there’s nothing to lose is there?

If you want to get your online business off to a flying start then there’s no better way to get a head start than to get your WordPress blog set up with Blog Setup Tutorials. Download it now and let me know what you think.

Once you have decided on your niche choosing and registering a domain name is one of the important next steps for getting your online business up and running. Registering the domain name is easy but finding a good domain name for your business needs some very careful thought.

You must have your own unique domain name and not a free one that is offered by hosting companies. Your domain name would just be an extension of theirs eg www.WebHost.com/yourdomainname. It’s important to choose a domain name that gives people a clear idea of what your site is about.  People are then much more likely to visit your site rather than going to someone elses. For example,  which site would you visit first if your search for Wedding cakes came up with  www.AmazingWeddingCakes.com  or www.Weddie.ie?

It’s true that a lot of obvious and very good domain names have already been taken and it can take some time to come up with a good name. You can still find a great domain name if you are prepared to invest some time, effort and most importantly some imagination. A domain name can be of any length up to 67 characters.

One of the best ways to build your list when you are just starting out is to contribute a gift to a giveaway event.  A number of internet marketers run them throughout the year with big ones usually falling around special dates like Christmas, New Year, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving and a few others. In fact there does not have to be any excuse.

Internet marketers contribute their reports, eBooks, videos, private label rights (PLR)  articles and other useful stuff to these giveaways so that visitors can download them for free. You include a link to your squeeze page or landing page so that people have to opt-in first to get your gift.  This is one of the best ways to build your list when you are starting out.

If you hurry you can get your gift into the Naked Giveaway Event that starts on Monday January 11th 2010 at 3:00 pm  GMT (10am Eastern) until Monday January 25th.

If you have sold on eBay you will have across ‘Powersellers’ who are the lifeblood of the eBay community. Powersellers are those who sell over two thousand dollars in items every month – but how do they do it? There are many ways to become a Powerseller, but one thing all of them have in common is that they offer great merchandise at solid prices. It seems simple enough, but this is something that a lot of eBay sellers forget in the process.

There are two different methods to find a great product to offer, and that is either finding hot trendy products, or finding a particular niche and sourcing an item to sell to that niche.
